ABOUT

About a year ago, I felt the need to start rescuing and collecting old cameras. Camera Crypt is a blog about bringing buried cameras back to life and back into action! I will also be using cool toy cameras, homemade cameras, instant cameras, and exploring some diy projects. Leave your digital thoughts at home for a while and take a stroll down analog lane.

Armed with a working knowledge of photography I intend to test, learn about, and discuss my processes with you. Hopefully, in the end, I will become a better photographer and lose my dependance of the digital display screen.

A little about the author: I am Nicole! I am a graphic designer, photographer, and artist! I have been interested in photography for about 10 years. It all started when I was in high school. I took a photography class and learned all of the traditional darkroom practices. Shortly after the digital revolution hit and I got a digital camera, just like everyone else. Using a digital camera really taught me a great deal about photography for a very low cost. I did not have to purchase film and keep track of all of my exposures and lighten conditions. I learned through seeing the image on screen and recognizing what I could change in camera so I did not have to make so many changes in Photoshop.

At the same time I started seeing film cameras that were really nice and still working selling for like $10 or so. This is when I started picking up random cameras from anywhere I could get them at a decent price. I started researching about what size films are still available, how to rig cameras to take different sizes of film, how I could alter cameras to work with modern batteries, etc. This is how this blog came about! As way to share my experiences with many different cameras, most I am using for the very first time!
